The organization of the event reveals this Thursday the line-up of this 70th edition . The concerts will take place from July 16th to 21st. The sponsor of this new edition will be Gregory Porter, he will open the festivities. On the occasion of this anniversary, a "Jazz in Nice" exhibition will be held from July 7 to October 15 at Villa Massena. Highlights include: Gregory Porter, Massive Attack, Orelsan, Parov Stelar, Jack Johnson, Rag'N'Bone Man, Melanie Biasio, Randy Weston's African Quintet, Sons of Kemet, Rodha Scott, Soulwax ... Monday, July 16th The festival will open with the performance of the godfather Gregory Porter on Place Massena, accompanied by the Nice Côte d'Azur Opera Philharmonic Orchestra . This renowned singer in the jazz world will present his new album "Nat King Cole & Me", a personal tribute to the legendary crooner. The Green Theater stage will also host Clint Eastwood's eldest son, Kyle Eastwood . Bassist and composer, he is also the composer of the soundtracks of "Million Dollar Baby" . He will be followed by saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings and "Sons of Kemet" who will present jazzy titles, with Afro and Caribbean influences. Also at the Théâtre de Verdure, 35 jazz musicians from Nice and the Côte d'Azur will pay homage to the artists who have marked the musical style. Tuesday July 17th In the Massena Square, the group "R + R = Now" , which collaborates with the greatest rappers of the moment, will precede the guitarist and Hawaiian singer Jack Johnson . The second scene will be occupied by " The Amazing Keystone Big Band ", a formation of 17 musicians , in the early evening. Wednesday 18 July Deva Mahal , daughter of the great bluesman Taj Mahal, will present live her first album "Run Deep" on the stage Massena. In the second half of the evening, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 ' will take over with music based on funk, jazz, soul and African rhythms. To close this musical day, the rapper and artist of the year Orelsan will come to interpret his album "The party is over". At the Théâtre de Verdure, Camille Bertault , Laurent de Wilde and Joshua Redman , accompanied by the Billy Hart Quartet are announced. Thursday, July 19th On the Massena scene, the Scottish, Nigerian and Liberian rappers from " Young Fathers " will open the evening, followed by Gary Clark Jr. - "the future of the blues," according to Barack Obama. The Massive Attack will fire at the end of the evening, on the occasion of their 30 years of career ! French pianist Baptiste Trotignon and his sidekick, saxophonist Yosvany Terry , will share the second scene. They will be followed by singer and flutist Mélanie de Biasio and pianist Henry Butler , accompanied by the Jambalaya Band. Friday, July 20th Singer Bilal , an accomplice of rapper Kendrick Lamar, describes his music as a mix of jazz-fusion, rock and funk. A bit like General Elektriks , who will perform in the second half of the evening. Austrian Parov Stelar will then perform a demonstration of old school jazz , with nuances of electro swing on Place Massena. At the Théâtre de Verdure, the winner of the Tremplin Nice Jazz Festival returns this year. Jef Roques and his quartet had charmed the jury with a controlled jazz with the accents of Be-Bop. Tom Ibarra , Rhoda Scott and the Israeli trumpet player Avishai Cohen will follow . Saturday, July 21st The British singer Rag'n'Bone Man will present his album "Human", leading sales in four countries. The Belgian group Soulwax will succeed him on stage with an anthology of electronic remixes , to be heard on the Massena stage. Eric Legnini will pay homage to soul jazz pianist Les McCann at the Théâtre de Verdure.
